Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt at Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts

Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt will present “Art, Memory, History: The Holocaust and Its Lessons for Our Moment” as part of the Philip I. Eliasoph Open VISIONS Forum on Thursday, September 10, at 7:30 pm at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Lipstadt is a historian, academic, and author who served as the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism from 2022 to 2025, holding the rank of ambassador. During her time at the U.S. Department of State, she led efforts to advance U.S. foreign policy addressing antisemitism around the world.

Before joining the State Department, Lipstadt served as the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University’s Tam Institute for Jewish Studies, which she helped found. She has taught at Emory for 30 years and currently holds the position of Distinguished University Professor. Her work is grounded in combating hate, pursuing justice, and challenging efforts to distort history for ideological purposes.
