Adult Studio: Photo Explosion Booklet Workshop at New Britain Museum of American Art

Get creative at the Photo Explosion Booklet Workshop, an engaging adult studio session at the New Britain Museum of American Art on Saturday, July 12 and again on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
Led by mixed media artist Gay Ayers, this workshop invites participants to craft their own photo explosion book, also known as a pic-folio. This unique project combines folding, gluing, and arranging photos into a 3D structure that opens out in a surprising and delightful way. Using acid-free materials, you’ll create a meaningful keepsake or a one-of-a-kind gift.
All materials are provided, and participants are asked to bring 10 photos that can be cut into shapes to personalize their booklet.
Gay Ayers has decades of experience working in book arts, photography, and calligraphy. She is a juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and has taught in libraries and galleries throughout New England.
The New Britain Museum of American Art is located at 56 Lexington Street, New Britain, Connecticut. For tickets and more details, visit nbmaa.org or call (860) 229-0257.
