A Pocketful of Rosies: WWII Rosie the Riveters & Their Revolutionary War Roots at Weston History & Culture Center

Women’s history and American patriotism are explored in this illustrated lecture examining the legacy of World War II’s Rosie the Riveters and their connections to earlier generations. Historian Madeleine Eckert shares the stories of three family members whose wartime contributions on the home front reflected a long tradition of civic commitment rooted in the Revolutionary War. The program also highlights the book Connecticut’s Rosie the Riveters: Pulling Together on the Home Front During World War II, compiled by former Weston resident Gretchen Caulfield, and places these narratives within a broader historical context.
The program takes place on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Weston History & Culture Center, 104 Weston Road, Weston, CT, with parking and entrance on High Acre Road. Admission is free, though registration is recommended as seating is limited. A snow date is scheduled for March 8.
