2019 Walktober – Maritime History of Norwich through Civil War

October 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

The 2019 Walktober – Maritime History of Norwich through Civil War will be held on October 19th from 10 am to 11:30 am at Howard T. Brown Park in Norwich.

Turn the clock back to the time of the “War of The Rebellion” and speak with Commodore Joseph Lanman, a native of Norwich, and his wife Ann Cornelia. This walking tour will cover Norwich’s maritime history, from the first English settlers and Mohicans, through the Revolutionary War, and on into the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Learn how a woman coped in a male-dominated society while her husband was on faraway stations and some little known historical oddities about Norwich and the sea. This walk is sponsored by The Norwich Historical Society – CT and Geoff and Kim McLean. www.norwichhistoricalsociety.org

This walk is easy and is 1 mile. Leashed dogs are welcome. There are no restrooms available.
