Summer Camp: Historic Voyagers–Navigating the River’s History at the Connecticut River Museum

Young explorers are invited to step back in time and uncover the rich history of the Connecticut River during Historic Voyagers Summer Camp, held from July 21 to July 25, 2025. This engaging weeklong program runs daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex, CT.

Campers will become time travelers as they investigate the river’s legacy through hands-on archaeology, artifact exploration, and educational scavenger hunts. Highlights include sailing aboard the Onrust, a replica 17th-century Dutch yacht, and cruising on RiverQuest, an eco-friendly research vessel. Throughout the week, participants will learn about the region’s Indigenous cultures, early European settlers, and the evolution of life in Essex.

The experience culminates with campers designing their own historical exhibits, which will be displayed in the museum for friends and family to enjoy. This immersive camp blends adventure, education, and creativity for a meaningful summertime experience.
