Brownstone Cafe and Executive Chef Vin Keola recently invited us to their Brownstone Café WH Summer Preview, where we experienced an exclusive tasting of summer specials. These will be available soon during their Happy Hour. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. We were also treated to some of their new Warm Weather Cocktails.
The Pyrito: Pyrat Xo Reserve Rum, muddled mint and lime, simple syrup and topped with ginger ale.
Ultimate Citrus Fizz: Ultimate Vodka, muddled lemons and lime and topped with club soda. (Pictured below in the lower right.)
Skinny Margarita: Patron Silver, Patron Citronge, fresh lime juice, and club soda.
Sam’s Summer Fling: Grey Goose La Melon, sour mix, and cranberry juice.
Vin’s Oak Lilly: Grey Goose vodka, cranberry juice, orange juice, Triple Sec, and sour mix.
The Patron XO Cafe Iced Coffee: Patron XO Cafe, Ultimat vodka, Dark Creme de Cocoa, and half and half – shaken and served in a Patron XO Cafe Iced Coffee mug. In the picture below, these were served to us in sample size.
The Dropper Martini: Hendrick’s gin, St. Germain, elderflower liquer, grapefruit juice, and pineapple juice. (Pictured below in the lower left.)
Rice & Corn Margarita Salad in an endive boat.
Citrus infused chicken skewers accompanied by a tequila and lime sour cream sauce.
They also had Cheddar biscuit and sliced beef with horseradish creme sauce sliders. (not pictured)
From their regular menu we tried the Fried Artichoke Hearts accompanied by a marinara dipping sauce.
Also tried the Loaded House Chips – house made potato chips topped with bacon, scallions, crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, and Gorgonzola cheese sauce.
All the new items were tasty with a “Southwestern” flair from the use of cilantro and / or tequila in the preparation. The new cocktails were light and refreshing, perfect for the summer nights. The Loaded House chips were so good that it was hard to stop eating them.
Brownstone Cafe is located at 16 Oakwood Avenue in West Hartford. A great place to enjoy good drinks and food away from the busy Blue Back district.
