Memorial Day Parades & Events in Connecticut

Memorial Day is Monday, May 28, 2018. Memorial Day is what we think of as the beginning of Summer but it is really much more than that. If you have ever had someone in your family be a part of the military or you have served, you know that being in the military comes with a price. Those in the military risk their lives and give up their own freedoms to make sure our country remains safe. We often take it for granted but if we didn’t have the military our lives would be a lot different.

Memorial Day Parades & Events in Connecticut

On Memorial Day we take just a little bit of time from our day to stop and give thanks and pause to remember those in the military who serve now or have served in the past. We also honor those who have died for our country’s freedoms.

Or as reader Bill says, “Memorial Day is the day we remember those fallen who did not come home.”

Memorial Day Parades usually include a Grand Marshall, floats, bands, Veterans, families watching and participating in the parade, laying of the wreath ceremonies, and barbeques afterwards. Some towns even give awards for the best floats.
