If you love the convenience of using K-cups to make a fresh cup of coffee, I think you will like the Remington iCoffee Opus maker. It is similar to other K-cup coffee makers with one slight difference, it spins the K-cup while it brews the coffee.
Disclosure: we were given a Remington iCoffee Brewer to facilitate our review. Our experience with it and our honest opinions shared below are our own.
You can watch the spinning action from the window at the top
The Remington iCoffee Opus coffee maker comes complete with everything you need to get started making fresh coffee. It even comes with a single-serve reusable plastic filter so you can use your own loose coffee instead of K-Cups. And, it also comes with a sample pack of K-cups.
The Remington iCoffee Opus features a SpinBrew needle with jets to spin, steam and stir the grounds inside the k-type cup. This is designed to help produce coffee with a French Press-like flavor and no bitter or acidic aftertaste. We are not sure if this works or not as I find that using less bitter coffee solves that problem. I think you might see more results from the SpinBrew feature if you use loose coffee in the reusable filter instead of the K-cups.
How to Use the iCoffee Opus Brewer:
Plug it in and press the Power button on the front.
Open the top by pulling up on the silver lever.
Put your K-cup (or reusable coffee filter) inside and press down until you hear a “snap”. By pressing down you puncture the bottom of the K-cup, which allows the water to flow through.
Close the lid. When you close the lid another spear will puncture the top of the K-cup and now you have a hole in the top and bottom so the water can flow through.
Fill the large tank with water. We suggest you use filtered water. If you have any kind of minerals or iron in your water it can ruin your coffee maker over time.
Select the size cup of coffee you want by turning the dial on the front of the coffee maker. You can choose between 4 and 12 ounces in 1/2 ounce increments.
Wait until the water heats up and when it is ready press the button inside of the size dial and the iCoffee will begin to make coffee.
When you aren’t using the iCoffee maker, press the Energy Saver button to put it in a low-lever power state.
In conclusion, we think the Remington iCoffee is a great coffee maker/brewer to own. It is real made and produces a great cup of coffee.
The iCoffee is super easy and super quick to use. Having water in the tank ready to use makes it convenient and it’s priced right at $139.99, which is a comparable price to other K-cup type brewer. The Remington iCoffee Brewer is available at Bed, Bath & Beyond stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com with free shipping.
