The Herreshoff Marine Museum will be hosting The 2014 Classic Yacht Symposium at Roger Williams University, College of Arts & Sciences, on May 2 from 12:30 to 6:30 pm and on May 3 from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The 6th Classic Yacht Symposium will include three Herreshoff Centennial Classes this year, all derived in some way from Alerion: The Newport 29 (often hailed as Capt. Nat Herreshoff’s best all-around design), Buzzards Bay 25 (Capt. Nat’s favorite design) and Buzzards Bay Boy’s Boat (Herreshoff Mfg. Co.’s most popular design, also known as Herreshoff 12 ½).
The Herreshoff Marine Museum is a maritime museum dedicated to the history of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, yachting, and America’s Cup Hall of Fame. The Classic Yacht Symposium celebrates all aspects of classic yacht design, restoration, maintenance and use, featuring experienced presenters to promote professional and amateur excellence.
