The Fresh Salt restaurant at Saybrook Point Inn is paying homage to France with a unique food and wine event that features “Everything French”. Held on Saturday, March 12 in conjunction with Fromage Fine Foods & Coffee of Old Saybrook, guests will experience an exquisite culinary journey led by Chef’s Bill Titus and Gese who will creatively showcase the finest French cuisine, expertly paired with a delightful selection of red and white wines from France.
The evening begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. featuring a magnificent cheese display of France’s finest, ranging from Chevre to Triple Cream, paired with Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut. Christine Chesenak, proprietor of Fromage will be on hand to present the Cheese and offer expert advice. Robert Rustico and Stephanie Lamison from Connecticut Distributors will be the guest wine speakers for the dinner.
The dinner then opens with a first course featuring Coquille Saint Jacques (Scallops Gratinee) paired with Domaine Charly Nicolle, Chablis v.2013, followed by a Classic Coq Au Vin, paired with Domaine Christophe Cordier, Julienas Vielles Vignes v. 2013. The main entrée of the dinner features Roasted Wild Boar Rack with Braised Beluga Lentils, Ratatouille and Caramelized Baby Pearl Onions, with Currant Demi-Glace’, the Boar is matched with Chauvenet-Chopin, The evening concludes with an outstanding Pear Clafoutis with Roquefort complemented by Seaside Wine and Spirits from Old Saybrook will be in attendance, and guests can place orders for their favorite wine of the evening at specially reduced prices. The Homage to Fromage wine dinner at Saybrook Point’s Fresh Salt is $99.50/person plus tax and service charge.
