Enjoy a fun filled day of art and entertainment in celebration of the local community this Saturday on Broadway Island, 56 Broadway (across from Apple/J.Crew) and on the sidewalk in front of the Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street. Amateur and professional artists of all ages and skill levels will be competing for prizes and bragging rights. Categories include Teens (ages of 13-17), Adults (18 years or older) and Adult Groups (two or more artists with at least one 18 years or older). Winners will be chosen by “people’s choice”.
The New Haven Chalk Art Festival will also feature a Kid’s Freestyle Zone with a free box of sidewalk chalk for the first 100 participants, live entertainment from the Neighborhood Music School Premier Jazz Ensemble, a magician, free face painting, Tomatillo Taco Joint, Insomnia Cookies, Donut Crazy and a craft activity with The Yale Bookstore.
There will be great photo opportunities and there is no cost to participate or attend this event, including parking! Free parking is available for all contestants and spectators at the 150 York Street Garage from 11am-5pm. Show your parking ticket from the garage to the staff at The Shops at Yale tent on Broadway Island during the event for a free validation stamp.
