Model Yacht Regatta at the Mystic Seaport

Thje Model Yacht Regatta at the Mystic Seaport will be held on August 11 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. The IOM or “International One Meter” returns to Mystic this year. The turnout last year was very positive and we expect boats numbering in the high teens this year with skippers traveling from N.Y., R.I., MA, VT, and CT. The IOM is a world class RC sailboat currently racing in 36 countries with a U.S. National Championship that regularly caps out at 85 boats and a World Championship held every two years that sees skippers from each participating country. The boats are built to a “Box Rule” which means they all “measure” the same but don’t always look alike. Class rules allow for three rig/sail combinations that let the boat to be sailed in very extreme conditions.
