A packed restaurant of exuberant fans were there to share in the excitement this past weekend as the charismatic and always entertaining Singing Chef Neil Fuentes took top honors and won the challenge for recreating a childhood favorite, Swiss Miss Triple Chocolate Dream Pudding. Not only did the sweet treat have to be recreated, it then had to be prepared in an original recipe create by the 3 contestants on Food Network’s newest and whacky culinary competition, Rewrapped [Episode: RW0210H “Pudding Up a Fight]
Food Network’s Rewrapped, hosted by Joey Fatone (best known as a member of the boyband ‘N Sync), is a new competition series hosted. From Twinkies to Goldfish to SpaghettiOs, three competitors use their talents to recreate and innovate America’s most beloved snacks.
Neil, no stranger to being on camera while cooking and entertaining audiences, was thrilled to be asked back by Network producers after his loss on Chopped which aired last year. “I was dying to get back in the game and show the judges what I was capable of,” says Neil, “The Swiss Miss challenge wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but it was a lot of fun to do and I am thrilled with the outcome.”
What’s next for The Singing Chef? The winter months will see an active schedule at Jojoto, Neil’s Venezuelan restaurant in Branford, CT. Cooking classes, cabaret nights and an on-going series of local artists, writers and speakers will be visiting the restaurant. Neil has more TV appearances in the works and a few surprises up those Ricky Ricardo ruffles sleeves!
