Connecticut Food Bank hosts four walk events each spring to raise funds for anti-hunger efforts in Connecticut. The success of this fundraising and awareness-raising event is evidence of the commitment our communities have for their neighbors in need.
Did you know that more than 1 in 7 households in Connecticut is at risk of hunger. One third of those who receive food assistance are children. Money raised goes directly to providing groceries and hot meals to hungry children, families, seniors and individuals in Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex, and Windham counties. These numbers are not statistics, but they are tour family, friends, and neighbors. Every step and every dollar raised makes a difference. A $7 contribution will provide someone in need with one week of meals and give hope for a better tomorrow.
In 2013, Connecticut Food Bank distributed more than 20 million pounds of food, an average of 40 tons of food every business day. Founded in 1982, Connecticut Food Bank is the largest source of charitable food donations in Connecticut.
