We recently attended a fashion event at Clinton Crossings Premium Factory Outlet stores in Clinton, Connecticut and had the chance to check out some of the stores we never, or rarely, visited before. It was a weeknight so less people were there and shopping was a breeze. On a weekend the Outlet stores are packed with people so going during the week gives you time to see everything and not be rushed.
On this shopping trip we visited DKNY, J Crew, Aeropostale, Off Saks, Lindt, Designer Fragrances and Cosmetic Co., and Club Monaco.
We learned that Saks Fifth Avenue OFF has a lot better, competitive pricing than they used to. We have always loved this store so this is great news to my “cheapskate” ears. Did you know that you can sign up for the VIP Saks loyalty card and save 30% instantly on top of their low prices? Spring was popping out all over Saks and I couldn’t get enough of the oranges and fuschias.
Loyalty cards are great because they keep track of your purchases and you can save more than the average shopper. They don’t cost either. And instead of keeping all of those loyalty cards in your wallet, download the CardStar app and scan all of them into your phone. I have used this app for about 3 years and now never carry any loyalty or grocery store cards in my wallet. Every loyalty card I own is on that app. The app is free too!
At the Designer Fragrances & Cosmetic Co. we learned that they have the lowest prices on designer brand (Lancome, Essie, etc) cosmetics and fragrances you will find anywhere. They are especially proud of the new Kiehl’s line they are carrying now.
DKNY has the neatest item that is sold at their stores year-round. It is the DKNY Cozy and you can twist it, tie it, and wrap it to make so many styles. It’s kind of like a sweater because it is woven and has sleeves but it is also a wrap. There is even a free DKNY Cozy app that will show you how to make the cool wraps you see in the store through fun instructional videos. DKNY is a New York-based store so you will find a lot of black and white ensembles but we spotted lots of color to through the store. Club Monaco is also nearby and featured more tailored clothing for the chic New York fashion look. J Crew has lots in store. It’s the best place to buy a striped long-sleeve tee or casual shirt.
Kids clothes just got a little more chic and fun at the Hanna Andersson store. This is a Swedish company with just limited locations and Clinton Outlets has one of them. The store is bursting with color when you walk in and everything looks like so much fun to wear. They sell baby clothes up to pre-teen sizes.
If you are looking for pre-teen or teen clothes, Aeropostale is their place for sure. It has the styles teens love and the prices are super affordable. We saw tops from $8 to $16 and teen boys now have more colors to choose from instead of just black and brown.
Don’t forget the Lindt! The Lindt chocolate store smells divine as soon as you walk in the door. They now offer a new specialty drink made with the “melt in your mouth” Lindt chocolates. I samples the decadant Raspberry Hot Chocolate made with 4 Lindt chocolate pieces using special equipment that melts the chocolate and blends it with the cream and other ingredients. Lindt Creations are something else you should try. I sampled the Dark chocolate mint and it was heavenly.
It’s time to get out and shop at the Clinton Factory Outlets. Check out some of these stores and let me know what great finds you come up with.
