We had the pleasure of attending the first beer dinner held at Artisanal Burger Company in Manchester, CT. Working with several different styles of beer from Stony Creek Brewery of Branford, CT, the chef created a four course dinner that paired well with the chosen beers.
The owner of Artisanal, three representatives from Stony Creek Brewery, and a smiling attendee proudly show us their smiles while enjoying one of Stony Creek’s signature brews: Docktime during the reception.
During the reception we enjoyed a trio of hor dourves, with one of them being the Black Angus Sliders. If these mini sliders are any indication of what their full size burger taste like, one is in for a fantastic and juicy burger. The other two hor dourves, wild mushroom tartlet and duck confit crostini were just as tasty.
Somebody cheated and got a full mug of the Docktime.
One of the main dishes we had was the perfectly cooked sweet potato wrapped cod, crispy chorizo strip, butter beans in a chorizo brown butter sauce.
Not seen much on menus, but great to enjoy, was this scotch egg that was accompanied by a lamb Merguez corn dog and Dijon mustard aioli paired with Stony Creek Blager, a black lager.
The third course was a tender Nitro braised short ribs, winter vegetables, Mayatg blue polenta, and parmesan crisp paired with a brew from Stony Creek’s Nitro series: White Mocha Stout. A white stout?, you say, well this nitrogen carbonated brew was extremely smooth with a hint of mocha that paired well with the flavor of the beef.
Our sweet finish was chocolate salami, Affogato corretto, with “Cranked” sauce.
Stony Creek Snow Hole, a red double IPA accompanied our sweet finish.
