Fairfield County Wardrobe Stylist and Personal Shopper Elizabeth Schmitt identifies four key fashion trends for this season.
1. The Statement Coat
I highly suggest investing in a piece of stand out outerwear. Statement coats are everywhere! Even Kim Kardashian made her fashion comeback in Paris rocking a nude statement coat. Let’s face it, in the cold weather the first thing someone sees is your coat. It is also your most worn clothing item for fall and winter. So why not make it a fabulous fashion statement? From oversized and billowing to sleek and sophisticated, have fun this season and choose a coat that is sure to make a statement.
I am a diehard black leather fan to begin with, so when one of this season’s hottest trends was leather I was more than happy to jump right on that bandwagon. The motto leather jacket is one of those wardrobe staples that is extremely versatile. Whether you are running to the movies in jeans and a tee shirt or attending a holiday party, layering your jacket over a casual look or a cocktail dress definitely amps up the style meter. It is the easiest way to ensure your look is modern and fun while also adding a little edge.
A great leather jacket is a favorite, but remember… leather isn’t just for outerwear anymore. If you are looking to explore more fashions, shop this season’s leather dresses, skirts, and peplum tops.
3. Winter White
White is no longer just for spring and summer. Winter whites stand out as crisp and clean and that is something I love when looking at the sea of darker tones in fall and winter. Pair a simple white dress with opaque black tights, a great pair of shoes, and a sparkly clutch for a great winter white look. And don’t forget your nails! Nail color is a great accessory that is fun to play around with. Go with this season’s nail color musts of bordeaux or deep navy.
4. Leopard Print
There are the classic brown and black leopard prints, but this season have some fun with colorful leopard prints in pink or red. However, do not overdo this! When it comes to leopard, a little goes a long way!
For example, wear an all black ensemble with a great pair of leopard flats or throw an oversized leopard print sweater or sweatshirt over your favorite black leggings.
